Hudec out for season
Twice this year he has been on the podium, but yesterday while training in Wengen, Switzerland Jan Hudec’s season came to a crashing end.
Hudec was training on the famous Lauberhorn downhill course when he caught an edge in a transition zone; where the skiers go from a steep pitch to a flat section. In the transition zone the skier faces a great deal of torque on their knees, and catching an edge only increases the torque on the individual’s knee.
Hudec did not have the healthiest knee to start with; he endured two surgeries previously on this knee. Dr. Bruce Moore did a quick examination of his knee and predicted that this is likely his third ACL tear on his right knee.
Hudec is returning to Canada for further examination at the Fowler-Kennedy Clinic in London, Ontario by Dr. Robert Lichfield.
We wish him a speedy and successful recovery.
