Less talk, more skiing

Welcome to our ski and travel blog.
Skiing to us is not just a weekend passion, but a lifetime obsession. When we say skiing – we really mean anything outdoors in the winter that involves navigating some vertical with a sliding device - usually with two planks we call skis… although we subscribe to anything that allows us to carve, float, or rip down a knoll, hill, or mountain. We also both snowboard and will venture on snow blades a few times a year.
We live in Ontario but travel often to either extend or enhance our experience on snow.
We are decidely new-school in our approach and appreciation to the sport - which usually means we’d rather do than tell.
We’ll use this forum to share and recount stories of our travels to near and far away places while also providing insight, perspective and point of view on ski and coaching trends and techniques. We are also big fans of ski racing and free skiing and will be following our national teams throughout the season.
Our blog will be part commentary, part news and part photos and video. Please also be part of the conversation – comment on our articles or email us directly with your point of view, stories, pictures, and video.
The 2007 / 2008 season is off to a great start in Canada - so if the time between posts goes beyond the norm, it’s probably because we are too busy stuffing our faces with powder, steeps, or vertical.
See you on the steep side….
Phil & Sasha

I cant wait to read this!! I am totally with you on your vision and quest in life with regards to skiing, except I have taken it one step further, quit my career as an art director to establish my career as a professional skier in any aspect I can. By the way, where are your helmets??
Stefanie – we are in fact both buying new helmets this year!
In Ontario you need them as protection from the general public as the hills get so busy…while out west or in the big mountains we realize that you need to protect your head from the elements…especially when following & chasing Sasha down!
I love that you have made a blog like this. I need to learn about working at a ski resort in other countries during our summers. Where does a person start? I am level 2 CSIA and Level 1 CASI with level 1 coaching. I am working on my level 3 now. Again… I think your site is GREAT!
Hey Jackie! Check out: http://www.rookieacademy.com/steve_smart.html
Steve runs a great program in the summer (our summer) in New Zealand. It’s a fun way to get your 3. New Zealand is also a great place to work or play in our summer.
Alternatively, we really enjoyed Chile – just outside Santiago you get three big mountains with great vertical and terrain. Lots of Canadian and American ski teams train there in July & August.
We’ll be posting / blogging about our experience there in the coming weeks!
